Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions, and we’ve got answers.

Brass material is non-magnetic. Therefore, you should take a magnet and see if it sticks to the metal (a magnet on your refrigerator will work fine). If it doesn’t stick, it is probably brass. If it sticks, it is probably another type of metal with a brass plating or brass coloring. We cannot polish these items.

Unless it is an unusual circumstance, we do not polish items in the home. They must be brought to our facility.

After polishing to a mirror finish or satin finish, and after a solvent bath and rinse cleaning, we will coat your items with a clear acrylic polyurethane protective coat. This coating is specially formulated for outdoor exposure on mirror finished brass!

The coating should last many years, even if outside in the weather, providing it is located in a non-salt environment (installations near the ocean will not hold up as long).

We polish brass, copper, silver, aluminum, pewter, and stainless steel. Essentially, we polish all non-magnetic metals as well.

Standard deliveries are usually 1 to 2 weeks, but of course that can change due to varying business conditions and is negotiable.

Simply bring your items in to The Carlisle & Finch Co., Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and we will normally be able to get you a quotation while you wait. We do this by polishing a small surface on your item to a mirror finish. This allows us to determine the price and allows you to see your finish!

If you wish, you may email pictures of your objects for an estimated price quote. Send pictures to: sales@brasspolishing.com. Send your mailing address and phone number along with your pictures so we may get in touch with you.
